RENSSELAER, N.Y. -- National Grid crews worked to repair a natural gas leak in the City of Rensselaer that led to an evacuation of ten houses Tuesday evening.
Steve Brady, a spokesperson for the utility company, said crews first called to Birch Lane around 4:15 p.m. After determining the nature of leak, they called for the precautionary evacuation of homes on the street.
By 7:30 p.m., Brady said the leak had been repaired and residents were allowed back into their homes.
The leak started in an underground, 2-inch pressurized, plastic pipe, Brady said.
The Clinton Heights Fire Department assisted on scene, and aided with the evacuation.
