BENNINGTON, VT – Bennington Police, along with State Police and Hazmat teams, are continuing to investigate an incident involving volatile chemicals discovered in a suspected meth lab on Tuesday.

Bennington Police Lt. Lloyd Dean said officers responded to an apartment on the 200-block of School Street after receiving reports of "many chemicals" being stored there. Officials evacuated the surrounding neighborhood and blocked off School Street, between Pleasant and Gage Streets, for about three hours Monday night.

Officials were at the home again Tuesday afternoon removing the chemicals, which they say could potentially be used in the making of meth.

The resident of the apartment, Justin Holton, denies it having to do anything with a meth lab, saying his chemical lab is simply a hobby.

No arrests have been made at this time.
