BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A 47-year-old Vermont man is facing charges for allegedly shooting and killing his dog.
Bennington police say they were called about 3 a.m. Friday to a mobile home park, where they found a dead pit bull still chained to its doghouse.
Police told the Bennington Banner the dog appeared to have been shot three times.
Edward Trombley was arrested inside the mobile home, where police said they found a .22-caliber rifle and ammunition, as well as a 3-foot-tall marijuana plant.
Trombley was charged with aggravated cruelty to an animal, reckless endangerment and possession of a growing marijuana plant.
Police said Trombley is a convicted felon and not allowed to possess firearms.
