
PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Police are investigating why a Pittsfield man was on railroad tracks in western Massachusetts when he was struck by a freight train.
The Berkshire Eagle reports that David Shoemaker was taken to Berkshire Medical Center early Saturday morning with life-threatening injuries.
The incident was reported at about 12:445 a.m. Authorities found the 23-year-old Shoemaker alive bridge.
The incident was reported to police by CSX Railroad workers. Police say the freight train stopped after striking Shoemaker.
His condition was not immediately available.
