Jury: Woman guilty of attempted murder for stabbing husband


BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. - A jury in Saratoga County has found 51-year-old Lydia Salce guilty of attempted murder for an August 2011 incident in which she stabbed her husband more than a dozen times at their Halfmoon home.

The jury found Salce guilty of Attempted Murder 2nd and two counts of Assault 1st after five hours of deliberations and one hour of read back, District Attorney James Murphy said Friday.

Salce now stands convicted of stabbing her husband Michael McKee more than 12 times, the most serious of which nearly caused his death by causing two punctured lungs, when angered he was going out drinking with friends in a motorcycle gang.

McKee was in the hospital seven days at Albany Medical Center.

The trial last 2 full weeks and the prosecution called nearly 15 witnesses including the victim. The defense called 2 witnesses. Salce did not testify.

She faces 25 years in state prison when sentenced on August 31st.
