Johnstown man arrested for boating while intoxicated

BROADALBIN, N.Y. - Fulton County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a Johnstown man who was allegedly boating while intoxicated on The Great Sacandaga Reservoir late Wednesday night.

Fulton County Sheriff Thomas Lorey said deputies arrested 67-year-old Ronald Cook after cook was reportedly operating a pontoon boat in an unsafe manner in the area of Sand Island.

Lorey says Cook was met at shore by a sheriff's office road patrol unit before being taken into custody and charged with one count of Operating a Vessel Without Lights, a violation, and one count of Operating a Vessel While Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor.

Cook had reportedly been towing a personal watercraft earlier Wednesday night before apparently losing the craft. Deputies say an unattended personal watercraft was reported floating in the area.
