ALBANY, N.Y. - It's time to celebrate, and the Fourth of July is expected to be a blast in Albany's Empire State Plaza.
Workers for the New York State Office of General Services spent the day Tuesday setting up for Wednesday's fireworks shows and events. Last year, more than 10,000 people showed up for the event at the Empire State Plaza and this year they are expecting even more.
On Tuesday, Alonzo's Fireworks team unloaded 10,000 shell casings and pirotechnic affects that will go off to a number of patriotic songs. Each colorful explosion will be fired electronically by a computer in the center of the Empire State Plaza.
Mike Ciulla, a piro-technician for Alonzo Fireworks displays set up the explosives at the Empire State Plaza, says he has been doing the job for 10 years and says it is a blast.
Ciulla says seeing the thousands of people come out for the show makes him feel real pride in his job and his country.
