ALBANY, NY – Children from New York City arrived in Loudonville
on Monday as part of the Fresh Air Fund.
The Fresh Air Fund is an Albany area agency which pairs
at-risk city youth with families who live in open-air environments.
Volunteer families will host each child for up to two weeks.
A
total of 27 children arrived in Loudonville, each between the ages of six and
18-years-old. Each child usually spends their days amidst the concrete and
congestion of New York City. Now they will spend time experience swimming,
fishing, running in the grass, and much more.
The Fresh Air Fund has several more bus rides planned
throughout the summer for children coming upstate from New York City. The
nonprofit agency has provided free summer vacations for more than 1.7 million
New York City children since 1877.
