Mother arrested after child found unattended in car

Jodi Hebert Jodi Hebert

COLONIE, N.Y. - Police in Colonie have arrested a mother they say left her child in a hot car unattended on Monday.

The Colonie Police Department received a call around 2:00 p.m. reporting the child left in the parked car in the parking lot of Kohl's Plaza on Central Avenue. Police say the child was left in the car for about ten minutes while the mother, 43-year-old Jodi Hebert, of Albany, was in a store nearby.

Police say the windows were down enough for anyone to gain access to the child, the vehicle was turned off and the outside temperature at the time was 81 degrees. They say the child was not in distress and EMS was not needed.

Hebert is charged with Reckless Endangerment and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
