Winhall, VT, fire a total loss

WINHALL, VT - At approximately 08:38 a.m. today members of the Winhall Police and Rescue Department and the Winhall Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire on 9 Avison Road in the Town of Winhall. 

Upon arrival of the Winhall Police Department, the single family residence was found fully involved and threatening another two houses and a large garage in close proximity to the fire.

The building that is owned by Steven Avison of Winhall was used as a rental unit and was occupied at the time of the fire but there were no injuries to the occupants William and Cynthia Kilday. 

Mrs. Kilday was at home at the time of the fire but was able to escape the house and alert a neighbor who call the fire department. The Kilday's vehicle, a 2011 Honda Fit along with the residence and all thier possessions were considered a total loss.

Assisting the Winhall Fire Department on scene were the Stratton, South Londonderry, Weston, Peru, and Jamaica Fire Departments. Winhall Fire Chief Harold Coleman said that the fire did not appear to be suspicous but contacted the Vermont State Police Fire Investigator for assistance in determining the cause of the fire.
