SCHENECTADY, NY – The Schenectady Jewish Community Center outdoor pool reopened on Saturday.
On Monday the pool was closed after maintenance workers discovered that shards of glass had been thrown into the pool. Monday was also the first day of its summer camp.
Workers drained the pool and vacuumed the glass immediately. Executive Director Mark Weintraub says the cleanup was expensive, costing the JCC more than $35,000.
It was the second time the pool area had been vandalized. On June 17, deck chairs, umbrellas, and other items were thrown into the pool.
The pool located at the William & Estelle Golub Family Pool & Tennis Club will operate on a normal schedule of 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
