SCHODACK, N.Y. --The Schodack Police Department says the driver of the car that crashed late Tuesday night in the Town of Schodack, sending five people to the hospital, has been charged.
Taylor Woodcock, of Nassau, has been charged with
four counts of Reckless Endangerment 2nd, Reckless Driving, Imprudent
Speed, Moving from lane unsafely and Failure to keep right.
The crash occurred around 11:30 p.m., near the intersection of Route 9J and Stony Point Road. Police say the car traveling southbound lost control, rolled over several times, and crashed into a ditch on the side of the road. The car was upside-down in the ditch when police first arrived on the scene.
Schodack police say four passengers were ejected from the vehicle and sustained various injuries. A responding officer told NEWS10 that the five passengers, ranging from 18-years-old to 23-years-old were all conscious when police arrived. All five were taken to Albany Medical Center and listed in stable condition.
Police say that speed and weather conditions are believed to play a role in the crash.
The four passengers in the car were Benjamin Babcock of Rensselaer, Justin Coogan of Schodack, Stephanie Reilly of Castleton, and Cortney Lewis of Albany.
A portion of Route 9J was closed for several hours overnight, but has since re-opened Wednesday morning.
Police say the investigation is continuing.
