HUDSON - The man who admitted killing an elderly Sunday school teacher last year for her car learned he will spend 20 years to life in prison.
Shafiqul Islam wept openly in court during sentencing.
Family members of 73-year-old victim Lois Decker gave emotional impact statements as Islam was sentenced.
"Our family will never be the same," says Tara Decker, Lois' daughter-in-law.
Visibly shaken, Islam talked about forgiveness. "I hope someday God will forgive me."
Lois decker was strangled in her home in November 2011 by 22-year-old Islam, who police say lived in her neighborhood and followed her home from the market.
