Police: Former teacher's aide purchases marijuana with child in car

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Schenectady Police Department has arrested a former teacher's aide for allegedly purchasing marijuana with a 3-year-old toddler in the car.

Police say 33-year-old Rozelle Tolbert was arrested after he purchased marijuana from 27-year-old Marcus Young on Monday in the Hamilton Hill section of the city on Van Voast and Schenectady Streets whild the toddler was in the car.

NEWS10 has confirmed Tolbert is a former teacher's aide with the Schenectady City School District. The district says he has not been employed with them since 2004. He is currently unemployed.

Child Protective Service has been notified and the child was turned over to a family member.

Young is charged with criminal sale of marijuana, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Tolbert is charged with endangering the welfare a of child, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. He appeared in court Tuesday morning and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
