Who's on the ballot for Tuesday's Federal Primary Elections?

Posted: Updated:

ALBANY, N.Y. - Another set of primary elections will be held in New York on Tuesday for our Congressional seats.

Three little-known Republicans are facing off to ultimately take on U.S. Senator Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand in November's General Election: Attorney Wendy Long, Rep. Bob Turner, and Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos.

There is also a Democratic primary for the U.S. House of Representatives District 19; the winner will take on incumbent Rep. Chris Gibson in November. The two Democrats on the ballot Tuesday are former Ulster County Democratic Chairman Julian Schreibman and Dutchess County Legislator Joel Tyner.

In District 21, Republicans Kellie Greene, a shipping and logistics specialist from Sackets Harbor, and Matthew Doheny, a businessman from Watertown, are squaring off for a chance to run against Democrat Bill Owens in November.

In the U.S. House of Representatives District 20, Democrat Paul Tonko will face Republican Bob Dieterich in November. Both are unopposed for Tuesday's primary election.

This year's primary date has moved up from its traditional slot in September, raising concerns that fewer voters will take notice.
