DELMAR, NY – Stolen items from an American Legion in Delmar were found on
Saturday. NEWS10 ABC told you first about the story on Friday.
Nearly a thousand dollars in donations were missing when a car was broken
into on Thursday night. The donations were for an upcoming fundraiser for World
War II Veterans. The fundraiser raised money to bring veterans to the WWII
Memorial in Washington D.C.
On Saturday, some of those stolen items were recovered. A Good Samaritan
found valuables scattered along a bike path located less than a mile away from
where they were stolen.
Organizers say they are happy to get some of the donations back. Since
Friday, organizers say the community has stepped forward to help out.
Donations are still being collected until Monday. If you are interested in donating towards the fundraiser please e-mail your name, contact information, and donation offer to news@news10.com or log-on our Facebook page and post your information there.
