ESPERANCE, N.Y. - A Schoharie County man was arrested by state police Thursday after he was found in possession of over 500 ecstasy tablets.
Acting on community information, a search warrant was executed at the home of 21-year-old Ethan Vanvalen, of Charleston Street in Esperance, where police recovered over 500 ecstasy tablets, 14 ounces of marihuana, counterfeit currency, an M1000 explosive device and over $2,000 in cash. The explosive device was removed by the State Police Bomb Disposal Unit.
Vanvalen was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree, Criminal Possession of Marihuana 3rd degree, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 1st degree. He has been remanded to the Schoharie County Sheriff without bail.
