ALBANY, N.Y. -- New York Senate leader Dean Skelos says Governor Andrew Cuomo's bill to release teacher evaluations only to parents will pass easily. Skelos tells The Associated Press that he expects most Republicans to vote for the measure. Skelos calls the bill a good first step that will likely see future revisions.
The Assembly is expected to pass Cuomo's bill Thursday and Cuomo will then sign it into law. Senate Democrats are also expected to vote for the measure, providing more than enough votes for passage.
Cuomo and the state's politically powerful teachers' unions say the one-phrase evaluations should be kept from the general public.
