Man arrested for 2nd time in one week

SCHODACK, N.Y. - A self-employed contractor from Averill Park was arrested for the second time in a week, after a victim turned him in when seeing his first arrest.

25-year-old Thomas Sutliff II was arrested by Schodack State Police on Wednesday for allegedly taking a $4,000 down payment for work to be performed from a victim in East Greenbush. Police say he never performed the work agreed to and refused to reimburse the victim after repeated requests over an extended period.

The victim reported the incident to police after reading of Sutliff's arrest Friday for burglarizing a home in Northumberland, in which he was caught by dropping his cell phone while fleeing the home. Jewelry was stolen from the home and rifles and shotguns were found gathered on the floor, apparently to be stolen but were left when he exited in haste.

He is a self-employed contractor who police believe worked extensively in the Capital Region.  His vehicle is a gray 2004 Dodge Quad Cab pickup truck, often equipped with ladder racks. Anyone with information on Sutliff is asked to contact the State Police at 583-7010 or in Schodack at 732-4644.

On Wednesday, he was charged with Grand Larceny 3rd and remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or bond.
