HALFMOON, N.Y. - Route 9 has been cleared after a motorcyclist was killed from colliding with a dump truck near the Crescent Bridge Monday morning.
The motorcyclist has been identified as 54-year-old Jacalyn Gibbs, of Clifton Park. Gibbs was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Authorities say the truck driver did not see Gibbs drive in front of him at a stop light. The truck driver then accelerated when the light turned green and hit Gibbs. The motorcycle was dragged a short distance from the light.
The Department of Transportation first reported the accident around 6:50 a.m. saying Route 9, both north and southbound, was closed at Crescent Road due to a crash.
The route was then closed in the southbound direction, DOT detouring drivers onto the Northway or Route 32. The entire road re-opened around 3:30 p.m.
No charges have been filed against the truck driver.
