CATSKILL, N.Y. - The New York State Police say a Coxsackie-Athens School District teacher has been arrested after a month-long investigation into a reported physical altercation between the teacher and a student while on a school bus.

40-year-old Lorna Collins-Mihill, of Rensselaer, who is employed as a special education teacher at the Coxsackie Elementary School, has been arrested after allegedly getting into a physical altercation with an 11-year-old Autistic student. Police were first contacted by the student's father after he became aware of the physical altercation which he say occurred on May 11th.

The incident was also reported to the school by the First Student Bus Company, police say. There is no word on her position with the school at this time.

After an investigation, Collins-Mihill is charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a misdemeanor, and Harrassment, a violation. She was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to return to court on June 18th.
