Steven McComsey
SALEM, N.Y. - The mother of a victim of a deadly explosion in Salem is speaking out about the arrest of a man police say is at fault for the blast and the deaths of six people.
Linda Porlier, the mother of 19-year-old Clarissa Porlier, says she was in court when the grand jury handed up the indictmen to 33-year-old Steven McComsey , of North Creek, on Thursday. While Porlier says the day was a long time coming, it still does not bring her any closure, only leaving her with more questions.
The site of the explosion on Route 29 in Salem looks very different than it did last July, with only a few mounds of rubble and a gaping hole in place of where the home used to be.
Porlier says her daughter was home for a few weeks on break from the Culinary Institute of America where she was studying to be a pasty chef.
Police say the investigation spanned ten months with more than 100 interviews, resulting in the arrest of McComsey, who was living in the home.
McComsey remains in the Washington County Jail in lieu of bail.
