ALBANY, NY – The 2nd Annual New York State Animal Advocacy Day was held on Wednesday in Albany.

Hundreds of people including lawmakers and several celebrities lobbied for legislation that will strengthen animal abuse laws like Busters Law. Busters Law made animal cruelty a felony under New York State Law.

One of the biggest stars that attended the event was Bocker the Labradoodle. Bocker is a movie star who was in movies such as Men In Black, Eat Pray Love, and War of the Worlds.

Although animal abuse laws have strengthened over the years, advocates believe there is still more work to be done. Assemblyman Jim Tedisco tells NEWS10 there are at least 25 bills that will strengthen animal abuse laws that are currently circulating at the Capital this year.
