Man faces prison for setting fire to Schenectady apartment

SCHENECTADY, NY – A man was sentenced to prison for setting fire to a Schenectady apartment.

The incident happened on or about May 28, 2011 to an apartment located within 132 Jay Street.

Eric Launder poured flammable liquid on and around the doorway that resulted in significant damage to the interior and exterior of the apartment. Launder also disabled surveillance cameras in the building in an attempt to conceal his crime. The apartment was occupied at the time however no one was killed.

A jury found Launder guilty on four counts of Arson 2nd, Criminal Mischief 3rd, Criminal Mischief 4th, and Criminal Mischief 3rd. He was sentenced to 25 years in state prison.
