Gloversville man suffers heart attack, falls out window

Posted:

GLOVERSVILLE, NY – The identity and cause of death of the deceased body found near a Gloversville cemetery on Sunday was released.

The body was identified as 80-year-old Calvin Beekman, of 34 Thompson Avenue. Investigation and autopsy revealed Beekman suffered a heart attack then fell through an open second-floor window. Beekman then slid down the porch roof and onto the sidewalk. Officers say he sustained numerous injuries to his body from falling out the window.

Gloversville Police initially responded to a report of a person wrapped in a blanket in the area of the Thompson Avenue cemetery. When officers arrived they found Beekman's body wearing a bathrobe on the sidewalk in front of his home. After an investigation of the residence, no indication of foul play was indicated.

The Gloversville Police Department, Fulton County Coroner Art Simmons, Fulton County Ambulance Service, and the Gloversville Fire Department contributed to the investigation.
