SCHENECTADY, NY – Schenectady Police arrested a woman for burglarizing the President's House at Union College on Monday morning.
Police say at approximately 9:36 a.m., 57-year-old Darlene Verruto, of Saratoga Springs, allegedly kicked in the front door and entered the President's House.
Verruto is accused of chasing the president and another family upstairs then fighting with security guards when they attempted to arrest her. During this time she injured one of the security guards.
Verruto was taken into custody and charged with Burglary 1st Degree, a Class B Felony, Assault 2nd Degree, a Class D Felony, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, a Class D Felony, and Resisting Arrest, a Class A Misdemeanor. She is currently held at the Schenectady Police Department on $15,000 bail.
The president and his family were not injured during the incident. Police say there is no known affiliation between Verruto and Union College.
The reason behind the incident remains under investigation. No further details are available at this time.
