Speed a factor in fatal Amsterdam motorcycle crash

AMSTERDAM, NY – An Amsterdam man died in a motorcycle accident on Sunday.

The accident happened at approximately 2:00 a.m. on Waite Road in the Town of Amsterdam.

The operator of the motorcycle was 21-year-old Robert M. Bower, of Waite Road. He was pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of injuries in the accident.

Investigation and interview of witnesses revealed that Bower was traveling at a high rate of speed when he crossed the roadway and hit a parked vehicle.

Bower was transported to St. Mary's Hospital where an autopsy will be performed.
