WATERVLIET, NY – The Watervliet City Council held a meeting
on Thursday night at the Saint Patrick's Cathedral to discuss the landmarks
A recent proposal to demolish St. Patrick's Church and build
a supermarket in its place has stirred up controversy.
At the meeting, the planning board presented its final
report on a redevelopment project.
Among the issues the board says needs to be addressed is if
Nigro Companies is permitted to develop the 3 ½ acre property for business
purposes. There are also traffic, noise, and lighting concerns to be discussed.
