BOSTON, MA – Legislation in Massachusetts was passed by the House of Representatives to ban the sale of bath salts.
Bath salts are being dubbed as a highly addictive, designer drug with extreme dangerous side effects. Bath salts are commonly called ivory wave, vanilla sky or energy one. Doctors say the drug has constantly changing chemicals.
The legislation now stands before the State Senate for consideration. Representative George T. Ross filed the legislation. Ross says if the bill is passed by the Senate, it will provide police and prosecutors with the necessary tools to "combat the trafficking of methamphetamines, highly addictive and dangerous stimulants, and to deal with the proliferation of bath salts."
According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, 38 states have enacted legislation banning the substances used to manufacture the drug.
