JOHNSTOWN, N.Y. -- The victim's husband is being questioned in connection with the suspicious death of a Mayfield mother whose naked body was found Monday morning in a remote area of the town.
Officials have identified the victim Wednesday as 54-year-old Kathryn Alling, a lifelong resident of the Mayfield-area and mother of three or four children.
In a press conference Wednesday morning, Fulton County Sheriff Thomas Lorey said Alling's husband, 42-year-old Brent Scott Alling Sr., is in custody on unrelated charges.
He was arrested Tuesday for driving while ability impaired, as well as five other traffic violations. He is being held in the Fulton County Jail on $2,500 bail and now being quested about his wife's death.
Brent Alling was pulled over in the area of State Route 30 and Christie Road, about two miles from where Kathryn Alling's body was discovered, on Tuesday morning after authorities attempted to execute a search warrant on the Alling's home on Delaney Road.
State Police found him driving a few miles from the home. He was taken into custody without incident, and the search of the home was allowed to commence.
On Monday, three sanitation workers came upon the woman's nude body, which was in brush off of County Route 123, near Tyrell Road, in Mayfield.
The Sheriff confirmed that autopsy results were in on Kathryn Alling, but that they did not yield an immediate cause of death. Officials will now wait for toxicology results to determine an exact cause.
Lorey said it could take several weeks to get the results of toxicology tests.
A tip from a family member of Alling led authorities to the man in custody, Lorey said. He added that he has a "history of violence," previously serving time for assaulting an ex-wife he was married to prior to Kathryn.
Police say Alling has not been cooperative with the investigation.
