Police: 3 brothers, friend arrested for trespassing at elementary school

WEST LEBANON, N.Y. - State police say three brothers and their friend have been arrested for various offenses after trespassing and vandalizing an elementary school.

The four men were seen by State Police driving a 1997 Honda Civic across the playground of the Walter B. Howard Elementary School in West Lebanon Saturday night.

Troopers say they found damage to the soccer field where the driver, 24-year-old Evan Pope of East Chatham, had spun circles in the grass. During his arrest, 22-year-old Ethan Pope allegedly screamed obscenities near passing motorists and local homes and kicked equipment in a State Police vehicle.

The other two passengers, 26-year-old Ryan Pope of East Chatham and 21-year-old James Avallon of New Lebanon, were ticketed for Trespassing.

Evan Pope is charged with Trespass and Criminal Mischief 4th Degree and Ethan Pope was charged with Trespass, Disorderly Conduct and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd. They have both been sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
