BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - State and federal officials are giving an update on cleanup efforts near the site of a former factory in Bennington, Vt.
The removal of contaminated soil, wells, storage tanks and transformers at the 36-acre area known as the Jard site was finished in 2007.
The Bennington Banner reports officials say since then, tests have shown that a nearby pond, wetlands and at least two homes have shown higher-than-acceptable levels of polychlorinated biphenyl, or PCBs.
The Environmental Protection Agency and the state are presenting their findings from ongoing studies of the area at a meeting Friday at the Bennington Free Library.
