ALBANY, N.Y. - Lawmakers say its dead... but that's not stopping activists from a last-minute push to get New York's minimum wage raised.
Advocates including the Occupy Albany movement and some clergy members will push the proposal during the final four weeks of the legislative session.
Tuesday at a rally at the Capitol they hope to gain attention for the bill that would raise the minimum wage from $7.25 to $8.50 an hour.
Clergy will also target Senate Republicans in their home districts and advocates for the poor, planning to ask Governor Andrew Cuomo to keep the issue in the press.
Nearly 900,000 workers statewide would be effected by the change in minimum wage.
