GHENT, NY – The Columbia
County Sheriff's Office arrested a teenager for burglarizing the Heavy Hauler
company in Ghent.
Sheriffs say the owner of the company reported a break-in
and theft. Investigation led sheriffs to a 17-year-old male. The male told
sheriffs about his involvement in the burglary and theft. Sheriffs were able to
recover computers and other electronic equipment stolen from the building. The
approximate value of the stolen property was $1,000.
The teenager was charged with Burglary 3rd
Degree, a Class D Felony, and Petit Larceny, a Class A Misdemeanor. He was arraigned
in the Town of Ghent Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of
$2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond. He will return to Ghent court on May 30.
