FULTONVILLE, N.Y. - A 2-year-old boy's babysitter has been arrested in Fultonville after sheriff's deputies say the child went missing under her care.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office says that they learned of the incident when the mother's car was pulled over for erratic operation at which time she advised investigators that her babysitter, 21-year-old Katrina Ann Doak of Fonda, had called to inform her that her 2-year-old son was missing.
Investigators escorted the mother back to the Fultonville home, at 64 Main Street, where the search for the boy begin. The boy was located about 500 feet from the home, at the intersection of Highway 30a and Van Epps Road in the Town of Glen, by a resident in the area about 15 to 20 minutes later.
Sheriffs say that Doak was arrested after she failed to properly supervise the child, as she had left the door open and the boy wandered out, and for not calling police when she realized he was missing. She is charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and is set to appear in town court next month.
