GLOVERSVILLE, NY – Gloversville Police are investigating a Friday morning shooting that sent one woman to the hospital.

The incident happened at a residence located on Spring Street shortly after 4:30 a.m.

Police say 20-year-old Danielle Shonfarber, of Gloversville, was transported to Albany Medical Center with a gunshot wound. She was last said to be in critical condition.

Occupants at the apartment told police Shonfarber sustained the wound as a result of the round being accidentally discharged.

After a search warrant of the residence was obtained, police located the rifle used in the shooting with assistance from one of the apartment occupants.

While police were securing the residence, 23-year-old Michael Perreault, a resident at the apartment, was charged with Attempting Tampering with Physical Evidence and Obstructing Governmental Administration, both Class A Misdemeanors. He was arraigned and remanded to Fulton County correctional facility on cash bail.

Gloversville Police say they've identified the suspect who brought the rifle to the apartment and who was handling it when it discharged. Charges are pending.
