WAYLAND, Mass. (AP) - Wayland police say five people are facing charges after a late-night drunken canoeing excursion on a town pond.

Police responded to Dudley Pond just after 2 a.m. on Wednesday after getting reports of a disturbance.

They found several people who had been drinking alcohol while in canoes, one of which had tipped over

Police tell The MetroWest Daily News that one of the people who fell in the water was so drunk they had to be rescued by the firefighters.

Three men from Wayland, one man from Framingham, and a Natick woman are facing disorderly conduct charges. Police say more charges are possible. They will be summoned to court at a later date.

All are in their 20s.
