Scotia-Glenville Central School District: PASSED - Yes: 1,371 No: 521

BOE ELECTION: Thomas Beaucamp (1561 votes) and Gary Normington (1570 votes)

• Proposed staffing cuts: 40.3 positions, including teaching and non-teaching positions (four retirements, one elementary librarian, part of a middle school guidance counselor position, elementary OPAL enrichment position, float nurse – leaving one nurse for each school and a grade 2 teacher at Sacandaga as well as other positions), teaching assistants, aides and monitors. 2 administrative positions also eliminated. District says these cuts represent 8% of their total staff.
• Proposed 2012-2013 budget: $47,829,155
• Percentage increase/decrease in budget: +1.59 (+$748,240)
• Tax levy increase/decrease: +2.93% (Does NOT need supermajority [60%] approval to pass)
• Proposed program cuts: Summer school, driver's education, field trips, late bus runs, the grade 6 foreign language program, 1-2-3 Success, Young Scholars, substitute cleaners, reduces athletics by $115,000.
