GLOVERSVILLE, NY – Gloversville Police arrested two men for
crack cocaine possession on Friday.
Police conducted neighborhood targeted enforcement after
complaints of suspected drug activity in the area of Division Street and Forest
Street.
Members of the patrol stopped a suspicious vehicle on
Fremont Street near E Fulton Street. During the stop, the vehicle operator,
20-year-old Jimmy Murray Jr., threw a glass pipe used for smoking crack cocaine.
Police then located 1.8 grams of crack cocaine packaged separately for sale on
Murray.
The passenger of the vehicle was 31-year-old Charles Newton.
Newton was found to have 3.2 grams of crack cocaine packaged separately for
sale, 5.9 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, and other items associated with
drug use and sales.
Murray and Newton were taken into custody and charged with
Criminal Possession of a Control Substance 3rd Degree. They were
remanded to Fulton County Correctional Facility on $10,000 bail secure by
Gloversville City Court.
