GUILDERLAND, NY – A tractor trailer and car accident on Friday in Guilderland closed part of Rte 20 E&W at I-87 (Adirondack Northway).  The crash happened at 10:50 a.m.

New York State Police tell NEWS10 ABC that a confused semi driver appears to have caused an injury accident which held up traffic for hours in Guilderland.

Police say the driver told them he got lost while driving southbound on the Northway and didn't realize that the highway was about to dead end at Western Avenue.

When he realized his mistake, it was too late. Police say the driver locked up his brakes and t-boned a light blue Intrepid which was traveling eastbound on Western Avenue.

The force sent the car into a wooded area off the shoulder.

The female driver from Guilderland had to be extricated from her car. She was transported to the hospital with what police believe are non-life threatening injures.

State Police say they are currently checking the driver's logbook and questioning him to get an answer as to why he became so confused in the first place.

No further details are released at this time.
