AMSTERDAM, N.Y. - The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office says they responded to the county Department of Social Services and arrested a man who allegedly threatened to bomb the building after being denied services.

Troopers say 33-year-old Daniel Hayes, of 360 Locust Avenue in Amsterdam, was arrested after they responded to the Montgomery County Department of Social Services in Fonda last Friday, May 4th for a disorderly person complaint. They say after Hayes was denied services he said he was going to "blow up the place with a bomb."

Deputies were able to locate Daniel at a family members house in the City of Amsterdam, where he was taken into custody without incident.

After an inspection of Daniel's property, Deputies determined that Daniel did not currently possess a bomb, or any bomb making materials.

Hayes is charged with Making a Terroristic Threat, arraigned in the Town of Mohawk Court and remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $15,000 cash bail.
