PHILMONT, NY – A Philmont man was arrested for allegedly threatening his
girlfriend with a handgun on Friday.
The incident happened at 10:56 a.m. at a residence on Main Street. Sheriffs
received reports about an altercation where a female victim was being
threatened by a person with a handgun.
Sheriffs say 25-year-old Patrick N. Hampton got in an argument with his
28-year-old girlfriend with whom he resides with. Hampton allegedly pointed a
loaded .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun at her face threatening to shoot
her. The victim was not injured and no shots were fired.
Hampton was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with Criminal
Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, a Class C-Felony, Criminal
Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, a class D-Felony (previously
convicted of Criminal Possession of a Weapon), Menacing 2nd Degree, Class
A-Misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a Violation.
Hampton was previously convicted on a charge of Criminal Possession of a
Loaded Firearm on July 27, 2004, in Schenectady County Court.
Sgt. Brian Molinski, Deputy Sheriffs Bernard Roberts, Andrew Broockmann and
Joshua Oakes and Sheriff's Office Investigators responded to the scene.
The NYS Police assisted.
Hampton was arraigned in the Greenport Town Court by Town Justice Robert
Brenzel and remanded to the county jail without bail to return to the
Village of Philmont Justice Court May 8th at 5 p.m.
