Police: Troy man arrested after invading elderly woman's home

BRUNSWICK, N.Y. - State police say they have arrested a Troy man after he invaded a 84-year-old Brunswick woman's home and threatened her.

New York State Police in Brunswick say 60-year-old Michael Dongelewic knocked on the elderly woman's door around 10:45 p.m. Sunday. After the woman opened the door for him, he entered under the guise of needing to use the phone. It was then Dongelewic allegedly threatened the woman with physical harm if she did not provide whatever money she had to the suspect.

The victim provided money and the suspect fled the area. She reported that she recognized the suspect from previous work that she had done to her home.

Dongelewic has been arrested for Robbery in the 3rd Degree and Burglary in the 2nd Degree. He was arraigned in the Town of Brunswick Court and subsequently remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail without bail.
