SCHOHARIE, NY - On Friday National Grid volunteers helped clean a Schoharie park and little league field after it was destroyed in Hurricane Irene and Lee.
Hurricane Irene and Lee devastated areas in Schoharie County. Dozens of families lost their homes. The county also lost the Fox Creek Park and little league field.
However the county plans to open those areas on May 5, thanks to about 70 National Grid volunteers. Volunteers raked the grounds, planted seeds, removed brush, and trimmed trees. Volunteers worked hard to make sure opening day is a happy one for the children.
