ALBANY, NY - The ringleader of a counterfeit credit card group was sentenced on Thursday in Albany County Court.

Resean Blount, 25, of Queens, was sentenced to nine to 18 years in State Prison. He was found guilty after jury trial to one count of Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree, a Class D Felony, and eight counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 2nd Degree, all Class D Felonies.

Blount was the ringleader in a group of four people that were arrested by Colonie Police in January 2011. The group used stolen credit card numbers and a "skimmer" device to re-encode gift cards, transforming them into fraudulent credit cards.

Three other defendants had previously been sentenced in court to felony charges for their roles in the scheme.
