Body removed from Mohawk River

NISKAYUNA, N.Y. -- A body was found Wednesday in the Mohawk River, near the Niskayuna and Rexford border, and police are investigating.

The body was first discovered late Wednesday afternoon, around 5:00 p.m., in the water near the Rexford Bridge at the Aqueduct Rowing Club.

The body was found by members of the Niskayuna rowing team's coaching staff.

Police were on scene into the evening hours as they removed it from the water. There is no word at this time on the person's identity or cause of death.

The Saratoga County Sheriff's Department is investigating.
