Sheriff: Unsafe speed caused fatal Halfmoon motorcycle crash

HALFMOON, NY - The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office says unsafe speed caused the fatal motorcycle accident that killed a Clifton Park teen on Sunday.

19-year-old Sean Obernesser, of Clifton Park, died after the motorcycle he was riding crashed in Halfmoon on Sunday. The accident happened at 11:02 a.m. on Route 9 at the intersection of Watkins Plaza.

Police Obernesser was operating a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle northbound on Route 9 and struck a car as it was attempting to make a left turn. Obernesser then continued northbound striking two more cars.

He was transported to Albany Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

No other injuries were reported. No charges or tickets are pending in this incident.

Calling hours will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home in Clifton Park. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park.
