SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The thoroughbreds have returned to Saratoga Springs to begin training for the upcoming summer meet.
Saratoga's famed Oklahoma Training Track opened for spring training Thursday as the thoroughbreds, jockeys and trainers continue to make their way back to the Spa City for the 144th season at Saratoga Race Course.
Trainers say they are excited to be back at one of the nation's oldest tracks. Trainer Nick Zito says the whole Saratoga racing experience can't be beat.
The 2012 season at Saratoga Race Course begins on Friday, July 20 and will consist of 40 racing days before concluding on Labor Day, Monday, September 3.
The 143rd running of the Grade 1, $1 million Travers Stakes will take place on Saturday, August 25, 2012.
