POULTNEY, Vt. (AP) - Teachers in a striking Vermont school district and school administrators are headed back to the bargaining table.
Representatives of the 70 teachers and the five schools are going to meet Wednesday with the help of a federal mediator.
Monday marked the fourth day of the strike. Negotiations between the teachers and boards of the Rutland Southwest Supervisory Union broke down last week over work rules, such as the time teachers spend with students.
On Monday, the union said it accepted a federal mediator's invitation to resume bargaining on Wednesday. Late Monday afternoon, a school official said school administrators had agreed to join the bargaining session.
The district is comprised of the towns of Ira, Middletown Springs, Poultney, Tinmouth and Wells.
