ALBANY, NY -  Albany Police Officer Robert E. Schunk II was terminated from his position on Monday after being convicted of Criminal Mischief.

Schunk was convicted from an April 2010 incident that occurred at his ex-girlfriend's house in Halfmoon. Schunk, who apparently had a history of violence against her, arrived at her home and violently grabbed her.

The ex-girlfriend had bruising and injury after she reported to police that he forced her up against a wall.

Schunk has previously been in trouble with the law. In April 2005, police arrested Schunk on drunk driving charges when he crashed his car into two parked cars on South Allen Street in Albany. Schunk initially fought it and later pleaded to a lesser charge.

Saratoga County District Attorney James Murphy released a statement saying, "I am very thankful that the Albany Police Department and the residents of the city will no longer have to endure Mr. Schunk on its roster as a police officer in the City of Albany."

Schunk will be sentenced on May 27th.
